The Kalama volleyball team dug themselves a hole and then spent all night digging out of it in order to knock off Castle Rock at home on Simmons Court in five sets. The Chinooks claimed the fifth and final playoff spot out of the 1A Trico League with scores of 21-25, 25-20, 21-25, 25-23 and 15-13.

Jacey Hutchinson orchestrated the Kalama offense with 33 assists to go with four aces. Taylor Hoggatt added a whopping 43 digs to pair with three aces, and Emily Capen was at the middle of it all with 21 kills and 31 digs.

“My team played like a family tonight,” Kalama coach Rebecca Clark said. “They were cohesive and played scrappy. Extremely proud of them tonight!”
