THE LUMBERDOME – If a highly competitive basketball game was all you were looking for to help pass a chilly Saturday evening in the middle of February, then Joe Moses Court was not the place to be. But if you’re the type of high school hoops fan who simply enjoys watching players go off for career-best performances, then there was no better place to be than the comforting confines of the historic Lumberdome.

In the opening round of the 2B District IV Tournament, the Lumberjacks scored the first nine points and didn’t take their foot off the throttle until they’d locked down a 72-47 win over Washougal. That effort included a game-high 30 points from Joshua Crane.

“He probably could have done that in a few other games,” R.A. Long coach Jeray Key said.

Crane scored just four points in the first quarter, but dropped in 26 in the second and third periods. With a large lead in hand, he sat out the fourth while other Lumberjacks took their turn running the floor.

“He just found his spots tonight,” Key added. “We got the mismatch and he can score the ball at all three levels. He can hit the three, he can get to the midrange, and he can score it from the post. He’s six-foot-four so you’ve got to put a little size on him…. He’s just a tough guard. He’s smooth and he’s explosive.”
