R.A. Long’s Rhet Young puts up a shot from post while being defended by Mark Morris’ Jadyn Brooks (22). Young scored a game-high 18 points in a 58-52 win over the Monarchs, Friday, Feb. 7, at The Lumberdome. The Lumberjacks and Monarchs will square off one more time on Friday for the District title. — Candy Durgeloh for Blast Zone Media

Historically, some of the most anticipated stories in film, literature, and recreation thrill their audiences not once or twice, but thrice. The Three Musketeers, The Godfather, the Longview/Kelso bowling circuit of yesteryear (Triangle, Fox, & Hilander), and of course the original Star Wars trilogies.

Luckily for basketball fans from Cowlitz County and beyond there’s no need to travel to a galaxy far, far away to see firsthand how Longview’s third Civil War of the season will play out. Friday night’s Planned City Hoop-a-Palooza between archrivals Mark Morris and R.A. Long will be just across the Cowlitz River on the Big-K Court at Kelso High School, and it will determine the winner of the 2A District IV boys basketball championship.

Most local basketball aficionados already read the two previous previews pieced together by your favorite local media centers of N2 and Blast Zone (no, not you redacted), so sit back and enjoy the capstone on our own trilogy of online sports story telling to get you primed for the next round in Longview’s greatest rivalry.
