NATT COURT – If you told the Foster Bulldogs before the game that they’d be able to hold both of R.A. Long’s leading scorers to just 10 points they probably would have felt pretty confident about their chances at upsetting the No. 2 ranked Lumberjacks. But that game plan didn’t account for TraMayne Jenkins scoring a game-high 13 points and otherwise taking over the game in every important facet.
With Jenkins lighting up the scoreboard, reeling in rebounds, and leading the Jacks in floor burns acquired from one hustle play after the other, R.A. Long was able to convincingly dispatch No. 7 Foster 63-44 in the opening round of the 2A State Tournament, Saturday, across the lake at Bakamus Gymnasium.
“I just know that I’ve got to pick it up for my team,” Jenkins said. “I knew they weren’t really going to think about me.. It’s just about the guy they don’t know they need to be covering.”
