WOODLAND — If you’ve got a grandstand full of visiting alumni and a student section full of over-hyped high school kids ready for homecoming, the most proper thing a football team can do is give everyone in the proper colors a reason to stand up and shout. And the Beavers did that in spades during the first half, scoring all of their points before the pomp and circumstance of halftime in a 40-0 win over R.A. Long, Friday, in a 2A Greater St. Helens League football showdown.

The contest wound up out of balance, both in terms of production from team to team, and in terms of action from half to half. Woodland rattled off 33 straight points in the second quarter, including a score on the first play of the frame, to make the game clock begin to run without stopping for a break the rest of the way. And with the clock rolling, the second half flew by without a single point going up on the scoreboard.
