YAKIMA – The Beavers were guaranteed just one game of basketball when they left South Cowlitz County and headed over the mountains to the SunDome for the 2A girls basketball state tournament. And while Woodland earned itself more than four quarters of action, Wednesday, it could not come up with the baskets it needed in order to extend its season in a 44-40 overtime loss to Bainbridge.
In a game that was tied five times and featured six lead changes, the Beavers saw two players foul out in the bonus period and wound up on the wrong end of the final run in the season-ending loss.
“A lot of girls would die to end up here, but they did a great job just to get here,” Woodland coach Glen Flanagan said. “It would have been nice to win that one, but we were running out of players.”
