The Hilanders had 40 minutes to make their wildest dream come true. Trailing 1-0 at the intermission against Mountain View in a girls soccer game that would determine the 3A Greater St. Helens League champion, Kelso wasn’t going to go down without kicking and screaming a bit first.

That effort paid dividends for the Hilanders but wasn’t enough to snare a league title as the hosts fell 2-1 to the Thunder, Tuesday, at Schroeder Field.

“I think knowing that we were right there and it was right within grasp, I think that makes it hurt a little bit more for us,” Kelso coach Kyle Tatro said.
