3A Prep Football: Kelso, Mintonye rally to knockoff Mountain View
Runner Up: Hilanders lock up 2nd place finish in 3A GSHL

VANCOUVER — The Hilanders had business to take care of this week. And while they would have had a little more fun getting their hussle on beneath the bright Friday night lights, they made the best of a mid-afternoon kickoff and left McKenzie Stadium with a 21-12 win over Mountain View.
The 3A Greater St. Helens League football matinee wasn’t for all the marbles, but it was for some of them. With the win Kelso clinched a second place finish and the guaranteed playoff berth that comes with the silver standing.
“We control our own destiny,” Kelso coach Stev Amrine said.
But playing on the road in the middle of the day against a perennial thorn in their side, the Hilanders got off to the start they’d warned themselves against. It didn’t happen right away, in fact Kelso exited the first quarter in a scoreless tie. But on the second play of the second quarter Mountain View quarterback Bryson Vance hit Dylan Huber with a 26-yard touchdown pass.
