LACEY — Locked in a pitchers duel and no room for error it was a miscue in the field that wound up costing Kelso in a 4-0 loss to Inglemoore in the opening round of the 3A State Tournament, Thursday, at the Regional Athletic Complex.
“We had the talent to move on, we just didn’t hit the ball today,” Kelso head coach Dean Sorensen said.
With both teams starting their aces in a loser-out contest, the game was flying along in a scoreless tie through the first five innings. Kelso Paityn Mackin, recently voted 3A GSHL Pitcher of the Year by the league’s coaches, was nails in the circle early on. She’d notched four strikeouts through four innings and had allowed only a few Vikings to reach base in any fashion.
