3A/2A Prep Baseball: Play at the plate carries Kelso over R.A. Long
Bang-Bang – Hegdahl’s hose turns the tide for Scots in 9-7 win over Lumberjacks

STORY FIELD – The Kelso Hilanders and R.A. Long Lumberjacks don’t care about a little rain. In fact, when they’ve got access to David Story Field at Lower Columbia College, the Scots and Jacks don’t even care about a lot of rain.
That much was evident on Friday evening when the first pitch of the Battle of the Plaid was delivered in the midst of a deluge that managed to wipe every other game in the area out of commission before they were able to get started. And while it wasn’t the prettiest display of baseball, it could very well wind up qualifying as the grittiest (and certainly the most slippery) win of the season for the Hilanders once it’s all said and done.
Kelso managed to gut out a 9-7 victory over R.A. Long despite posting just three hits in the contest, and every player on the roster needed to borrow grandpa’s boot dryer over the weekend.
