Tigers get tangled up before league-opener

The Clatskanie baseball team battled through one of its toughest stretches of the season last week, going 1-2 against a loaded slate that included a one-run extra-inning loss to (3A) No. 10 Horizon Christian, a matchup with No. 1 Kennedy, and a bounce-back win over No. 6 Country Christian / North Clackamas Christian.

Clatskanie, which now sits at No. 6 in the latest rankings, nearly came away with more in a week head coach Ryan Tompkins said showed plenty about his team.

“We played very well against Kennedy and Horizon as we held leads late in the game in both,” Tompkins said. “Horizon made some key defensive plays and we had some crucial mistakes, which cost us.”
