RISTER STADIUM — In a non-league battle of teams trending in opposite directions, the Kelso baseball team came out the other side looking primed for a return to 3A Greater St. Helens League play once spring break concludes. The Hilanders put together one of its cleaner all-around efforts of the season Friday, beating Mount Tahoma 11-1 in just six innings of action.

Kelso pressured the Thunderbirds right away and never relented, swiping 11 bases on the way to the mercy rule victory.

“I thought we ran the bases pretty well today and took advantage of some of their errors defensively and capitalized on them,” Kelso head coach Tyler Parsons said. “We stole quite a few bags, put ourselves in scoring position, and came up in big moments.”
