WOODLAND — The R.A. Long baseball team took a couple big steps forward this week with a pair of wins over Woodland in 2A Greater St. Helens League play. The Lumberjacks most recent victory arrived on Friday with a 7-1 win on the road over the Beavers at Woodland High School.

On Wednesday the Jacks hosted Woodland and notched a 5-1 victory. Those wins pushed R.A. Long into a tie with their crosstown rivals from Mark Morris for third place in the 2A GSHL race.

“We’re feeling good,” RAL skipper Ryan Littlefield said. “We’re starting to have a good understanding player to player of what our roles are and buying into those roles.”

Meanwhile, the loss dropped the Beavers into sixth place in the league standings.
