Columbians pick up steam over spring break
Rainier put together an explosive three-game run at the Stanfield/Umatilla Tournament at Riverside High School in Boardman last week, and followed up with another victory on the road Monday.
Rainier defeated Vernonia 16-5 to open the week, keeping the wheels rolling after a successful string of outings down south.
The Columbians overwhelmed the field last week with wins over (3A) Riverside, 22-8, and (2A/1A) Sherman, 12-4 on Tuesday, and then topping (3A) Umatilla, 24-9 on Wednesday. The Columbians scored 58 runs across the three games, collecting 42 hits, drawing 34 walks and constantly applying pressure on the bases.
