The Kelso boys basketball team suffered a last-second defeat in its final tuneup before beginning 3A Greater St. Helens League play when Tumwater pulled off a miracle at the buzzer to claim a 62-60 victory.

That tough beat left Kelso sitting at .500 at the halfway point in the regular season, and there was no relief to be found in their league opening act at Prairie on Wednesday.
