Lumberjacks survive scare with Rapids

It doesn’t seem to matter much where the games are played, or what the surnames are in the scorebook, because whenever recent renditions of the R.A. Long and Columbia River boys basketball teams collide, fans have been sure to get their money’s worth.

Especially fans of the Lumberjacks.

Such was the case last Thursday when the undefeated Jacks survived another 2A Greater St. Helens clash with a thrilling 55-54 win over the Rapids at The Lumberdome.

“We just know with River, it’s a tough battle. Especially here, it’s like a Civil War. We’re basically rivals at this point,” RAL senior Jeff Rooklidge told N2 Media. “It’s always a close game… and we always had to come in mentally prepared to put up a fight.”
