Prep Boys Basketball / Scouting Report

BIG K-COURT – The Kelso boys basketball team heard all the critics last year on the way to a 6-15 overall record and a last place finish in the 3A Greater St. Helens League, and the Hilanders spent the offseason making sure they were prepared to silence them this winter.

Thus far, the returns have been promising for the Scotties with a pair of twins in their first three tries in the 2025-26 season. Kelso dropped a 66-52 decision on the road against 4A Skyview on Tuesday, but last week the Scots knocked off both Mark Morris and Ridgefield with strong efforts at home.

“All of those guys went through a really hard season,” Kelso head coach Joe Kinch said. “I mean, growing pains is a nice way to put it. It was difficult but those guys really stuck with it.”
