Six ‘Nooks hit double digits against Bulldogs

Coming into the season it was difficult to know what to expect from the Kalama boys basketball team. After all, the ‘Nooks had every excuse in the book at their disposal if they’d been interested in explaining away any early struggles.
But that hasn’t been necessary. In fact, it wasn’t even a consideration. Not after spotty offseason participation. Not after former head coach Wes Armstrong stepped down the week before the season started. And not after Kyle Randall swooped in from the wings to take over the program on short notice, and with little runway to get the program back up in the air.
And while there were several rough takeoffs and one hard landing in the opening weeks, Kalama is suddenly feeling like the sky is the limit.
“It was definitely an unusual start to the season for me,” first-year head coach Kyle Randall said. “Not much time to prepare and no knowledge of the roster but I finally feel settled and we’re starting to find our stride as a team.”
