Jacks clip Columbia River in double OT

R.A. Long needed six frames of basketball to come out on top by three points in a 2A Greater St. Helens League scrap for the ages at Columbia River on Monday. The Lumberjacks finally emerged victorious at the end of two overtimes, winning by a count of 48-45 after Jeff Rooklidge sank a 3-pointer with short time

“It was literally just a boxing match,” R.A. Long head coach Jeray Key said. “I mean, they just let us play and beat up on each other the whole time.”

That thrilling victory extended the Jacks’ season-opening win streak to 10 games, and they were rewarded with the No. 1 spot in the WIAA RPI rankings shortly thereafter. Sitting right behind R.A. Long in RPI is Woodland at No. 2. The Beavers are also perfect in league play as the teams prepare for a 2A Greater St. Helens League showdown at The Lumberdome on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
