Mules excited to get out of the barn

The Wahkiakum boys basketball team has spent a lot of time on the bus this season and those road trips have had a peculiar way of not generating much in the way of basketball opportunities.

Take the Mules trip to Longview in December for example. Facing off against Three Rivers Christian, they played less than a quarter of basketball before the game was called off due to slippery conditions on the court. Wahkiakum won 7-3.

And just last week the Mules went all the way to Oakville, only to see the lights go out at halftime of the girls game. So it was back on the bus again for the mob to Cathlamet without even getting to work up a lather.

Still, the Mules are comfortably out in front in the 1B Columbia Valley League race, and hold the No. 4 ranking in the state RPI metrics.
