High School Football / Report

MORTON — Despite their distance from one another on a map, and obvious differences in topography, the first half was a close affair between Ilwaco and Morton-White Pass on Friday night. But sophomore southpaw quarterback Haddox Hazen and the Fishermen offense scored 26 points in the second half to pull away for a 38-12 win in a non-league 2B football game at Morton High School.

Coming out of halftime leading by just one score, Hazen threw three touchdown passes in the third quarter alone, and then ran for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

“I think it was a tale of two halves. We were our own worst enemy in the first half,” Ilwaco coach Francis Fabela said. “In the second half, we executed much better and the scoreboard reflected that.”
