HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL
The Basics
Team: Toledo Riverhawks
Head Coach: Mike Christensen (8th season)
Helmets: Black
League/Division: Central 2B League / East Division
Last Year’s Record: 9-2 (5-1 league)
Second place in C2BL/East. Lost 13-10 to Tri-Cities in first round of State (Week 11).
TOLEDO – The Riverhawks have a lot to prove this season. There’s no other way to put it, and as a matter of fact, the Toledo boys wouldn’t ask you to put it any other way.
With experience and success come expectations. And even after losing just twice last season, the Cheese Town gang would be the first to tell you they didn’t live up to their own aspirations. Instead, Toledo endured what felt like an extra-long offseason filled with daydreams about redemption.
Now it’s time for the AquaHawks to prove it.
And if you were expecting big changes for Toledo in the offseason, the next few paragraphs are going to leave you sorely disappointed.
“We’re basically running the same stuff, I think we’re just taking it to the next level,” Toledo head coach Mike Christensen said. “We’re getting pretty deep into the playbook, and I feel like we’re getting pretty close to as much as a high school team can do just because we have so many returners.”
As they say in Toledo – If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Just get better at using your tools.
