THE STADIUM — It’s probably been said before that a team will see its biggest improvements between the first and second weeks of the season. Plenty of 0-1 programs have echoed that sentiment over that years, and the 2025 Lumberjacks were certainly hoping for that sort of progress.

But following a 35-0 loss at home to Centralia in Week 2, one has to squint to see the silver lining.

“We look at the things we did well,” R.A. Long Coach Jon Barker explained. “Like The Diesel formation, as a defensive coach I hate it, but it was working for us on offense.”

And while the Jacks may have managed to get The Diesel jumpstarted before the final horn, they didn’t lean into that tactic early or often enough. At least not enough get the goose egg off the scoreboard.

Meanwhile, the Tigers were scoring on offense and defense on the way to their first win in 11 tries.
