Dahl, Stewart injured as Hilanders stop historic T-Wolves

The Kelso High School football team took another big step toward locking down the 3A Greater St. Helens League title last week with a 28-0 win over Heritage, Friday, at McKenzie Stadium in Vancouver.
However, the postgame celebration was muted due to a pair of injuries to big-time Hilanders during the course of action. Junior lineman Parker Stewart left the game with a knee injury in the first half, and then senior quarterback Anders Dahl was taken by ambulance to the hospital in the second half after suffering a dislocated elbow.
“Anybody who’s been following us for the last few years, and with the way Anders stepped up for us as a sophomore, it was hard for us,” first-year Kelso head coach Darin Gardner noted. “It was hard for our sideline”
But Kelso had a job to do, so it went out and sealed the deal before taking a step back and assessing the damage. In the end, Gardner called the victory “bitter sweet.”
No matter who was playing, the Scots displayed a balanced, methodical attack against the previously undefeated T-Wolves. Kelso’s offense posted seven points in each quarter, while maintaining the shutout on defense.
