Scots start comeback too late against Lions

The Hilanders’ home opener did not go according to plan as the hosts fell behind early and couldn’t complete a late comeback attempt in a 31-21 non-league loss to Bellarmine Prep at Schroeder Field on Friday.

Kelso trailed 17-0 at halftime, and had to make several adjustments under the direction of first-year head coach Darin Gardner.

“As an entire organization, as a system, they do a lot of things right and it starts at the quarterback with them,” Gardner said. “They had a plan and they definitely had a kid back there who could make that plan a reality.”
