LONGVIEW — The Toledo Riverhawks made their case for the top overall seed going into the 2B state football tournament with a 47-7 win over Forks in a crossover playoff game Friday night on the renovated confines of Memorial Field.
The case was made in spite of Toledo not playing what it would consider to be a good game coming off a bye in Week 9, according to head coach Mike Christensen.
“I didn’t think we played great, especially first half,” Christensen said. “Sometimes byes are good, sometimes they’re bad and I think that week off helped us to lose a little bit of focus and it’s probably something we needed so big picture, it’s probably good for us to not come in focused and see if you’re not focused at this level, you’re going to lose. From here on out, we have to focus in practice and games.”
The victory makes Toledo 11-0 in crossover games since 2013. What’s more, the Riverhawks have scored at least 40 points in seven of those victories, with one win coming by forfeit.
