MEMORIAL STADIUM — The Woodland Beavers rolled into Longview and left no doubt in a 41-0 shutout of R.A. Long in a 2A Greater St. Helens League matchup, Friday, at Longview Memorial Stadium.

Woodland wasted no time setting the tone, jumping out to an early lead behind a balanced attack led by Quarterback Michael Belvin, who connected with his receivers for multiple touchdowns through the air while the Beavers’ ground game also kept the chains moving.

Woodland’s William Clemens slips through two would-be R.A. Long defenders, Treydon Chamber-King (14) and Taylor Cozad (24), for extra yards after the catch on Friday, Oct. 10, at Longview Memorial. The Beavers went on to win the league contest 41-0. / Photo by Skyler Smith for Blast Zone Media

Meanwhile, the Beavers’ defense was just as impressive as it held the Lumberjacks off the scoreboard all evening. Still, Woodland felt like it was stuck in the mud at times on the artificial turf in Longview.

“It was a weird game because it felt like we were dominating but it was only 21-0 at half,'“ Woodland head coach Glen Flanagan said. “It was very Twilight Zone-ish. They weren’t ever in threat of scoring, but they were good at taking time off the clock.”
