LA CENTER — By the time the sprinklers came on around 9:04 p.m., much to the delight of the home crowd despite the inward cringing certainly going on in the minds of the La Center administrators, the Wildcats essentially had another victory over Woodland all wrapped up.
It’s not like the Beavers didn’t fight in the trenches or show signs of improvement. It’s just that the Lewis River Cup ended with a far less preferable result than last week’s 8-Mile War triumph over Kalama.
But who expects La Center to open the deep sideline passing game and use that to come up with big play after big play, right when needed? That’s not what the Wildcats do.
Except that’s exactly what the Wildcats did, responding in kind whenever Woodland managed to make a push en route to a 34-17 victory Friday, at La Center High School.
