Chinooks soar over Stevenson

If the Kalma girls basketball team has one weakness this season it’s the number of jerseys handed out before the season started. That is to say, there are too many uniforms still in storage and not enough on the bench on game day.
But the ‘Nooks who came out to give it a go on the hardwood this season aren’t letting what they don’t have dictate their mindset. This isn’t going to be a season defined by what-ifs and who-coulda-beens. Nope. Kalama insists on charging headlong into the fight despite being outnumbered from the jump.
Never tell the ‘Nooks the odds!
That’s how they wound up taking seven players to the preseason jamboree at Lower Columbia College last month. And now that the season has begun, they’re trying to figure out how to play a full varsity slate and least part of a JV schedule with just 12 players in the program – four of which are eight graders.
“It’s going to be fine!” Kalama head coach Amber Doerty asserted in a preseason conversation.
