1A Prep Girls Basketball / Roundup

KALAMA — The Kalama girls basketball team will have plenty to play for down the home stretch of the regular season as it angles for a playoff spot out of the 1A Trico League.

The Chinooks snapped a four-game losing streak last week with a 64-41 league win at home over Castle Rock.

“Proud of the girls they put in a strong second half and threaded some great passes,” Kalama head coach Amber Doerty said.

The ‘Nooks doubled down with a big victory at home over Stevenson on Saturday, and woke up Monday morning ready to take on Battle Ground in the opening contest of the MLK Showcase at Lower Columbia College.

As for the Rockets, they notched their first league win of the season just over a week ago at home against Stevenson – and then went radio silent. Over the last week, repeated attempts by BZM to stir up stats and other notes on The Rock have been unsuccessful.
