NATT COURT — It didn’t take long for things to get out of balance, Wednesday, in the season’s first Civil War between the Mark Morris and R.A. Long girls basketball teams. And given the results leading up to Longview’s rivalry affair, that result wasn’t altogether unexpected.
However, a scoreless second half for the Lumberjills was not on anyone’s bingo card, and a 60-6 win for the Monarchs was somehow even more lopsided than it reads.
“Mark Morris turned up their full court zone defensive pressure and it got to us tonight,” RAL head coach JD Ott said. “We started to get impatient and didn’t get our spacing and made to many turnovers which they capitalized on.”
The Monarchs allowed just two points in the first quarter and led 38-6 at halftime. The rest was a purely academic affair, with a few opportunities for the Roundball Rowdies to try out some new material in the MM student section.
