2A Prep Girls Basketball / Roundup

WOODLAND – The Mark Morris girls basketball team has already clinched its spot in the state tournament, but there’s more business to attend to even though the weekend has arrived.

The Monarchs earned their ticket to State on Monday with a 55-41 win over Black Hills in a 2A District IV semifinal contest at Woodland High School.

The victory provided MM head coach Sean Atkins with a rare moment to decompress after checking off one more box on the season’s to-do-list.

“Gosh, i mean, it’s the biggest relief,” Atkins said. “It’s been a while. We’ve had a few games where we were so close to punching our ticket – even to get beyond the Regional round.”
