1B Prep Girls Basketball / Report

MONTESANO — High school basketball games last 32 minutes. That’s all the time you have. College games are 40 minutes. Professional games are 48. High school games are just 32.

The margins get tighter. The scoreless stretches are feel exponentially more. And the Naselle girls got a taste of that on Saturday in Montesano in the 1B District IV championship game.

After taking a 22-18 lead into the half, the Comets surrendered an 18-0 run during the third quarter and could never recover, eventually falling 49-42 to the two-time defending District champion Pe Ell Trojans.

“I told the girls after, ‘Be mad, be upset,’” Naselle coach Marie Green said. “Because we gave that game away.”
