The Toutle Lake girls basketball team isn’t interested in letting one setback derail its plans for a prosperous trip to Spokane this season.

That loss came at the hands of Napavine in the 2B District IV championship game, and less than 24 hours later the Tigers were given the No. 1 seed to the 2B State Tournament by the WIAA seeding committee.

Sure, the Fighting Ducks fell short in their quest to knockoff the Central 2B League champion Tigers in a 55-43 defeat on Saturday at W.F. West High School. But Toutle Lake has been looking at he bigger picture all season long, and now there’s another road trip to look forward to.

The Ducks were awarded the No. 6 slot to the state tournament, setting up a date with No. 3 ranked Brewster in the Regional round this weekend.

“I don’t even think it took much to get them refocused,” TL head coach Daren Dean said. “They’re a veteran team who knows Napavine’s a good team. Losing is not fun, but we were in the game, and that tells them we’re okay.”
