The Toutle Lake girls basketball team played its way into the District IV semifinals last week, but not all the teams within The Blast Zone were so fortunate.

Toledo and Ilwaco were both eliminated in the opening rounds of the district tournament, leaving just the Fighting Ducks to represent the area on the 2B girls playoff stage.

But in order to advance Toutle Lake will have to do what it could not during the regular season, with a rematch looming against Adna. Those Pirates defeated the Ducks by a score of 67-55 back on Jan. 20 in Central 2B League action.

Not that the pride of East Cowlitz County is flinching before the fight by any means.

“It’s one of those things where you’ve got to love to be in this position no matter who you’re playing,” TL head coach Daren Dean said. “They’re a good team. At this point, every team is. We’re just going to go try to play our game.”
