Clutch feet keep Lassies in league title hunt

The Kelso girls soccer team showcased a flare for the dramatic, Tuesday, before walking away with a 3-3 draw at Mountain View in a high stakes 3A Greater St. Helens League match in Vancouver.

The teams entered the day undefeated in league play, with the Thunder holding a two point lead in the standings. And of course, they finished the same way, with the second tie of the season between the two teams.

But it didn’t look like a deadlock in the early going. In fact, it very much looked like the Lassies were going to trail by two scores at halftime following a pair of goals that included a strike from WSU commit Teaghan Irvin.

But then Kelso’s clutch mechanism kicked into gear against the defending league champions.
