The R.A. Long boys soccer team did not end its season in fairytale fashion, but that’s not what will be remembered. At least not once the ink dries.
After suffering a 5-3 defeat on the road against No. 4 ranked Fife on Tuesday, the Lumberjacks — particularly the seniors — were able to hold their heads high knowing they’d managed to raise the bar for the program by reaching the state tournament three times in their careers.
“I thought we represented ourselves well,” RAL head coach Max Anderson said. “State tournaments aren’t for the weak and timid. You’ve got to expect to play.”
And play so play they did, even jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the first 15 minutes of action after making the trek to Fife High School.
