NATT COURT – It’s a safe bet the Monarchs are going to spending significant time putting in work at the service stripe during practice on Friday. But they’ll be whistling while they work after picking up a five-set win over Woodland, Thursday, in their 2A Greater St. Helens League opener.

Mark Morris missed 19 serves in the contest and dropped the opening set before battling back to beat the Beavers on Natt Court. The Monarchs took the match by scores of 17-25, 25-17, 23-25, 25-19 and 15-13.

“This was a game where nearly everything went wrong for us and we still found a way to pull it out,” MM head coach Carmen Hewitt said. “But we were resilient the whole way, and I’m proud of my team for that.”
