Week 5
Karsyn Ross, Kelso, Girls Soccer
Ross led the Hilanders to a dominant 7-0 win over Rochester (2 goals, 1 assist) and 8-0 win over Evergreen (4 goals). She stayed hot with five goals combined in wins over Heritage and Prairie the following week. Ross went on to sign with Cal Poly Humboldt to play college soccer in the fall.
TraMayne Jenkins, R. A. Long, Football
Jenkins hauled in eight catches for 153 yards and three touchdowns for R.A. Long, and also notched seven tackles in a win against Hockinson. Jenkins was a cornerstone on both sides of the ball all season for the Lumberjacks.
Week 6
Emersyn Thompson, Mark Morris, Girls Soccer
Thompson notched 13 saves for the Monarchs in a win against Woodland and posted four saves in a shutout against Hudson’s Bay. She also tallied 29 saves in a loss to Columbia River during league play, and stopped eight shots against Centralia in a match that went to PKs.
Jayden Stoddard, Wahkiakum, Football
Stoddard threw for 274 yards and five touchdowns and also rushed for 94 yards and another score for the Mules in a win over Ocosta. Stoddard led the Mules back to the playoffs this season and wound up ranked on the national leaderboard for total passing yards.
Week 7
Addison Hartley, R. A. Long, Soccer
Hartley posted four goals and three assists combined for the Lumberjills in wins over Mark Morris and Hudson’s Bay. Hartley helped the Lumberjills make school history with a third consecutive trip to the state tournament.
Aden Mintonye, Kelso, Football
Mintonye rushed for seven touchdowns and more than 300 yards for the Hilanders in a 49-35 win over Prairie. He went on to tally 28 touchdowns and nearly 2,000 yards rushing to help the Hilanders back to the playoffs once again. He was also named the 3A GSHL Offensive MVP.
Week 8
Lyla Khlee, R. A. Long, Volleyball
Khlee posted 18 assists, four kills and five digs for the Lumberjills in a win over Woodland. Khlee then posted seven kills, six assists and six digs in a win over Mark Morris, and helped the Jills to within a single set victory of a State berth.
Tucker Amrine, Kelso, Football
Amrine passed 9 of 12 for two touchdowns in one half of action for the Hilanders in a 42-13 win over Heritage. Amrine went on to be voted First Team quarterback in the 3A GSHL for his efforts in his return from a career-threatening injury last season. He was the first-team punter, too.
