The Associated Press press may need to spend some time reviewing historical boundary markers and old rivalries if it wants to stay in the good graces of University of Arizona men’s basketball coach Tommy Lloyd.

Lloyd, a Kelso High School alum, is back in the Evergreen State for the first round of the NCAA Tournament. His No. 4 seeded Wildcats are set to take on the No. 13 Akron Zips on Friday evening at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle. It didn’t take long for his homecoming to come up during a press conference on Thursday up in the Emerald City.

Asked by a reporter just how many people from Kelso and Longview have been reaching out for tickets to the game, Lloyd was even quicker to show love to his friends from the old school, while simultaneously throwing shade at Longview on the national stage.
