The Wichita Sports Commission announced the semifinalists for the 2025 Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award, including former Lower Columbia College and current Fresno State catcher Justin Stransky.


This year, 92 catchers from 27 conferences were nominated beginning February 12 through May 9. Of those catchers, a list of 13 semifinalists was chosen.

Stransky appeared in all 55 of the Bulldogs' games and finished with a .326 batting average. He collected eight doubles, two triples and 12 home runs, and was 10-for-13 in stolen bases. Behind the plate, he had only two errors in 487 fielding opportunities for a .996 fielding percentage. Stransky allowed only two stolen bases while throwing out 17 of 19 attempted base stealers.

The three finalists for the award will be invited to Wichita to take part in the Buster Posey Award Ceremony that is part of the Greater Wichita Sports Banquet on June 26.

Stransky helped the Bulldogs to the championship of the Mountain West Conference, punching their ticket into the NCAA Tournament. He went went 2-for-7 including an RBI double in a 12-7 win over Nevada, and went 1-4 in a 9-1 drubbing of San Jose State in the tournament title game.
