It's the goal of every collegiate track athlete to earn All-American accolades. For Castle Rock's Casie Kleine, it's become a reality.
Kleine, a freshman, along with Western Washington University track teammates Jayda Darroch, Kennedy Cook and Bec Bennett, placed third in the women's 4x400 relay in a school and Great Northwest Athletic Conference record time of 3 minutes, 35.65 seconds.
"An amazing year for the Vikings, capped by a great team performance in Kansas at nationals," WWU head coach Ben Stensland said in a story on the school's website.
"I am really proud of this team for the way they competed at the highest level during the final days of the season,” Stensland continued. “From the initial practice on campus in October until the last race in May, they put in a great amount of hard work and accomplished a lot of great marks."
Western's women tallied 11 points to tie for 27th place in the team standings, matching their best performance since 2017.
