It's been a highly successful week for Woodland's Lucy George.
A senior with the Grand Canyon University women's track team in Arizona, George grabbed a pair of top-three finishes in the Western Athletic Conference Championships held in Arlington, Texas.

George defended her title in the shot put with a heave of 49 feet 1/4 inch, an outdoor personal-best effort and the second-best toss in Grand Canyon history. She also grabbed a third place finish in the javelin with a throw of 142-7 1/4.
Utah Valley University won the women's team title with 208 points, followed by University of Texas-Arlington with 153. Grand Canyon grabbed fourth place with 100 points.
