Rainier's Chloe Crawford, a senior cross country runner at Oregon Institute of Technology, notched a career-best performance with a second place finish at the season-opening Simpson Invitational meet held in Redding, Calif.

Crawford completed the 6,000-meter run in 25 minutes, 23.50 seconds.
"Chloe absolutely crushed it today," OIT head coach Mike Anderson said in a story on the school's website. "The course was difficult, extremely hilly – and it was a hot morning."
Southern Oregon University won the meet with 25 points, followed by OIT with 32 as four Tech runners finished in the top-10.
Crawford also grabbed an eighth place finish in the Jim Hunt Humboldt Invitational at the Beau Pre Golf Course in McKinleyville, Calif. She completed the 6,000 in 23:51.65 as Tech placed fourth in the team standings with 73 points.
