KALAMA — Henry Sigfridson threw for 182 yards and four touchdowns, Benji Brightbill accounted for three touchdowns and the Chinook defense forced six turnovers as Kalama clinched a playoff berth with a 33-0 shutout over Castle Rock, Thursday, at Chinook Stadium.
Brightbill scored every time he touched the ball, notching receiving touchdowns of 12 and 21 yards, along with an 18-yard rushing touchdown.
And defensively, Michael Jordan no longer has the most famous “Flu Game…” at least as those in Kalama would be concerned about. That’s because Reece Achen battled through such an illness to notch two sacks and two forced fumbles, leading a Kalama defense that pitched a six-turnover shutout of Castle Rock.
“He missed practice all week long. He was well enough to get to school today,” Kalama head coach Mike Phelps said. “There was a couple times over on the sideline where, I don’t know if he was puking but he was certainly dry heaving. He was playing sick and Reece is a next level player. He’s going to be playing on Saturdays somewhere.”
The Chinooks opened the scoring in the first quarter on a 50-yard catch-and-run pass play from Sigfridson to Owen Kushner.
