SCHROEDER FIELD — The Kelso football team locked up a 3A Greater St. Helens League championship with a 40-7 win over Mountain View, Friday, to the delight of the homecoming crowd at Laulainen Stadium.

The Hilanders essentially doubled up their guests in total yardage, 347 to 178, and took a 27-0 lead into the extended intermission.

Blake Larwick ran in the first touchdown of the night for the hosts, and then caught a 15-yard pass from quarterback Owen Dahl to put the Scotties up by two scores.

Mason Hanson and Trevin Roller each rushed in a touchdown in the second quarter to help put the Kelso faithful into a partying mood at halftime.

Leo Drumal and Kainoa Fili added touchdowns for the Hilanders in the third quarter, and the rest was academic.

Mountain View was held off the scoreboard until the fourth quarter, when Dj Willford caught a three-yard touchdown pass from Cashton Liedke.

The Thunder, who are coached by former Woodland Kalama head coach Sean McDonald, are still searching for their first victory of the season.
