The Kelso girls wrestling team successfully defended their home mats over the weekend with two individual champions and a team points title to show for all their work.

Nearly 1,000 wrestlers descended upon Kelso High School on Friday Saturday and Saturday, Jan. 9-10, for the two-day Braided 64 tournament, which required 14 mats and nearly every open square inch of open space on campus.

The Lassies ran away with the victory with a total of 229 team points. Peninsula finished in second place at the annual girls’ grappler gathering with 190 points.
