STORY FIELD – The Lumberjacks rode the left arm of Riley Young on Tuesday when the junior turned in a no-hitter with 14 strikeouts in the opening round of the 2A District IV Tournament. With the pressure off, the R.A. Long offense took care of the rest in a 9-0 win over Aberdeen.
In addition to tossing a no-no, Young added a triple and drove in a pair of runs to help his own cause at the plate. The Lumberjacks have become accustomed to that type of effort out of their southpaw sensation this season.
“Each time he does something it’s like, ‘Man, that was pretty cool, he was really dialed in right there,’” R.A. Long head coach Ryan Littlefield said. “And the next time he’s out he does even better. It’s kind of to the point where nothing really surprises me anymore.”
