The Monarchs didn’t know exactly what they had to work with at the beginning of the season. After a mass exodus of experienced seniors in the offseason, Mark Morris baseball wasn’t quite looking at a complete overhaul, but it was a major renovation serious enough that the county probably required permits for the work.

By the end of the regular season, the Monarchs knew they had a pitching staff that could keep them in almost any ball game. But the boys in baby blue and red knew they’d have to hit to win at the district tournament, and the timely base knocks simply ceased to materialize.

“From the season standpoint, the record, it wasn’t how we wanted to end. But that’s baseball,” Mark Morris skipper Brock Myklebust said.
