Stevens, Stepehens rally MM over Rapids in double OT
The Monarchy turned the top of the 2A Greater St. Helens League into anarchy, Wednesday, when the Mark Morris boys basketball cashed a thrilling 82-79 win in double overtime on the road at Columbia River.
The victory pushed the Monarchs ahead of the Rapids into second place in the 2A GSHL standings and all but assured the road to a league title will run directly through The Planned City, with R.A. Long currently sitting in the first place throne.
But those are worries for another day. First, let’s learn a little bit about how Mark Morris kept itself in the running for a third straight league title by knocking off the higher ranked Rapids on the road.
“You’re talking about a hard fought game that was an instant classic,” MM coach Ken Kelly said. “Just the shot making, the play making, and the ebb and flow roller coaster of the entire game was worth the price of admission.”
